Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has introduced three major initiatives aimed at empowering students, supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and boosting economic growth in the province. These programs include scholarships, interest-free loans, and essential infrastructure development.
Highlights of the Maryam Nawaz New Programmes
Empowering Al-Qadir University Students
CM Maryam Nawaz announced a special initiative to provide laptops, scholarships, and e-bikes to students at Al-Qadir University. This step is a part of her vision to empower youth with better education and resources for growth.
CM Honhaar Scholarship Program
- Launched in the Okara division, this scholarship aims to support talented but underprivileged students.
- A total of 1,438 students from Okara will receive scholarships worth over Rs72.9 million.
- Beneficiary universities include:
- University of Okara
- University of Sahiwal
- University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences

CM Maryam also distributed Core i7 laptops to students, ensuring they have access to modern tools for education. She further shared plans for building a medical college, a girls’ hostel, and an underpass in Okara.
During the event, CM Maryam stated, “Talented students from low-income families can now dream of studying at top institutions like LUMS, NUST, and FAST.”
Asaan Karobar Finance Programme
- This Asan Loan scheme is designed to support SMEs by providing interest-free loans to entrepreneurs.
- Loans range from Rs10 lac to Rs3 crore, with repayment in easy installments.
- The scheme includes the Asaan Karobar Finance Card, which simplifies access to loans for small business owners.
